When I think about 2017, I know it was my best travel year so far. With 43 flights and 13 countries, I guess it will be pretty difficult for 2018 to be better than the previous year. I love remembering our adventures around the world and today I thought I should share with you, guys, the coolest things I did in 2017. Hopefully, you will find some inspiration and start planning right away!
- Surfing for the first time in Bali, Indonesia
Since I was little I thought Bali was a magical place and I knew I had to experience it on my own. The time has come and I was lucky enough to visit the island and spend 2 weeks there last summer. My morning routine was getting on the surf board and hitting the waves. Such an adrenaline rush! I won’t lie and say it was easy, but it was damn worth it!

- Admiring the sunset where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Mediterranean Sea
As you already know, I am a sunset chaser. Back in May 2017, we visited Tarifa, a tiny coastal town in the South of Spain where we watched a stunning sunset that left me with no words. Wind in my hair, sangria in my hand, the Atlantic Ocean on one side and the Mediterranean Sea on the other. I haven’t felt so peaceful in a long time.
- Playing with monkeys in Gibraltar
I am definitely an animal lover, but monkeys do scare me a lot. I have read everywhere they can be pretty mean, so I panic every time they get close to me. Last May, in Gibraltar, I was pretty courageous and took some amazing selfies with the cutest little monkeys. They were not aggressive, but they do try to steal everything from you. One of them even searched my boyfriend’s pants for some treats.
- Feeling like in Avatar in Singapore
I felt like I was visiting the future when we got to Gardens by the Bay. Even though it was my second visit, I was still amazed by the Supertree Grove, those iconic tree-like vertical gardens that you can see in all Singapore pictures. We visited at midday and it was not crowded at all giving us the chance to relax and enjoy ourselves.
The good news is that the surrounding gardens are free to wander around and you can get some great photos with the iconic Marina Bay Sands in the background.
- Spending my birthday on the French Riviera
How lucky was I to celebrate my birthday on the amazing French Riviera with my love and my best friend? Way too lucky, I know. Even though it was late September, the weather was simply amazing and the sun was by our side all the time. As a plus, our mornings could not have been better since we had the whole coast at our feet. I mean, look at the view from our room. Breathtaking, right?

- Bathing with baby elephants in Malaysia
I love Malaysia because it is forbidden by law to ride the elephants, instead you can play and feed them after bathing with them in the river. Baby elephants are just so cute and always hungry. I was so happy to find a sanctuary – Kuala Gandah close to Kuala Lumpur where they actually care for animals and rescue them from zoos and circuses where they are abused.
- Spending NYE in Moscow
Since I have some Russian roots, one of my bucketlist experiences was to explore Moscow. And what better way to see it than in the middle of the winter, with a Russian hat on my head and enjoying the fireworks over Kremlin? I was amazed by the beauty of the city and the stunning architecture of Saint Basil’s Cathedral. As a plus, Gum, the most luxurious mall in Moscow looks incredibly cute with all those hot air balloons miniatures and Christmas decorations.
- Flying over Cappadocia in a hot air balloon
Since I mentioned the balloons from Gum Shopping Mall, one of the coolest things I did last year was riding a hot air balloon in Cappadocia, Turkey. It was like a dream come true. I had my love by my side and we enjoyed the most magical sunrise ever. More than that, Cappadocia itself is such a beautiful place to explore, a wonder of nature.

- Seeing the most beautiful place on Earth – Kelingking Beach
Since I first saw this amazing place on Instagram, I knew I had to see it with my own eyes. Standing on the edge of the cliff with all that beauty in front of me left me speechless. It was definitely the highlight of my 2017. Not very easy to get to since Nusa Penida is not really up to date with infrastructure and transportation, but the effort cannot be compared with that amazing feeling of being on top of the world.

- Falling in love with HIM and starting our adventure around the world
Probably the most important thing in life is to find that someone that you want to share all your adventures with. He gives me inner peace, he gives me protection, but, most of all, he loves me even when I’m not that lovable and helps me find my strength when I’m down. And let’s not forget how much patience he needs to follow me around the world and take all those amazing pictures (thousands of them, as a matter of fact). I am so lucky to have experienced all the things I said above with HIM.
It was pretty hard for me to choose 10 things to share with you since all our 2017 adventures have a special place in my heart. Do not forget, I am waiting for you on Facebook and Instagram for any suggestions or recommendations.
Love,
Blonde around the World ❤
