Happy to introduce to you the brand new Pestana Plaza Mayor Madrid Hotel situated in the heart of the historical center, just a few minutes away from all the major tourist attractions, including Puerta del Sol, Mercado de San Miguel, the Royal Palace etc.

Our amazing room was probably my favorite part of the stay. Just imagine this: you get up from the bed, open the big wooden blinds and Plaza Mayor appears in front of you with amazing and colorful buildings, restaurants and cafés and lots of curious tourists eager to take photos in the beautiful plaza. The sun is shining, you pour yourself a glass of champagne and enjoy the view. This is how I fell in love with this hotel!
If you’re ever in town and decide to stay at this beautiful hotel, be sure to book a room with plaza view, it is definitely worth it!
Spain is renowned all over the world for its tasty food and I was excited for the breakfast at Pestana Plaza Mayor Madrid. Needles to say, it did not disappoint!
You have a big buffet area at your disposal with all the goodies you can think of: selection of fresh fruit and juices, cheese and cold meats, sweets, pastries and jams, etc.
Besides this, you also have an a la carte menu where you can choose your favorite dish: eggs, waffles, pancakes etc. I went for the classical option (also my favorite): fried eggs one side with bacon. Please don’t judge! Calories don’t count when you are in holiday. My fiancé chose benedict eggs and they were delicious too.
The final touch was the fruit platter I prepared with fresh strawberries, melon and pineapple. Yummy!
PS: If you are vegan or vegetarian, don’t worry, Pestana Plaza Mayor Madrid has you covered with a lot of goodies.
PS2: You will have breakfast in the hotel’s restaurant called RIB |Casa de la Carnicería| Beef & Wine which is located in the inner courtyard of the building. I loved the design: glass ceiling which assures perfect light, lots of flower and green plants, warm colors and fancy furniture.
Let me also tell you a few words about the great facilities that Pestana Plaza Mayor Madrid offers.
First of all, there is the Rooftop Pool which was the reason I have decided to visit this hotel after seeing a picture on Instagram. At the 4th level you will find a beautiful seasonal pool overlooking the historical center of Madrid. I named this place the tropical paradise of Pestana Plaza Mayor.
Secondly, nearby the reception, you will find The Spa that awaits you with an interior pool, gym and massage area. The bricks walls make this place unique. To be honest, I have never seen a pool or a gym like this.
As I have said above and it is pretty obvious from its name, Pestana Plaza Mayor Madrid is situated in the heart of the historical center overlooking the beautiful Plaza Mayor. It is within walking distance from Puerta del Sol (7 minutes), Mercado San Miguel (3 minutes), Gran Via (10-15 minutes) etc.
You can find lots of restaurants, cafés and shops in the area which makes it perfect for tourists.
Barajas Airport is around 20 km away from the hotel by car and the nearest metro station is Puerta del Sol (450m).
This being said, you can imagine we had a magical time in Madrid and we will surely be back one day at Pestana Plaza Mayor Madrid because I really feel like it’s the best place to stay in the city! If you have any questions, feel free to ask in the comments below or on my Instagram page!
